I
had the opportunity in the early 1990's to do a series of matte
paintings for an arcade game by Atari Games. Here I have taken my
favorite of the images and revised it to a night scene using Photoshop
and Windows 3.1, as a way of getting familiar with that new tool. I
later added gif animation to bring the scene to life -- circa 1995.
When John Skeel and Dianna Myers left Accolade to work for Dreamworks
Interactive they continued to contract my efforts for the early stages
of the development of the Goosebumps game. The game was to be one of the
first 3D games, but with a twist -- players would run from node to
node, with the transition done by a canned animation. Each node would be
a 360 degree view. This was the initial concept test and the first real
image I created using Photoshop (Windows 3.1 version). Click the
picture to see the actual size final image -- it seemed big then, but is
relatively small by today's standards,
